Clove Oranges

December 4, 2020

Clove oranges are a favorite at our house around the holidays. The smell of the cloves and oranges together is so festive and I love using them as a centerpiece or other decor around the house. They are simple to make but you can use your creativity to come up with fun patterns! Here are a couple tips when making them.

  • Choose pretty round oranges without blemishes.
  • All you need is cloves (you need a lot! 2 large bottles at least) and oranges.
  • Use something pointy to pre-punch holes into the oranges. Some cloves aren’t sharp enough and they are fairly fragile. If you push them directly in, you can crush their delicate tops. I used a needle for sewing in the ends of your knitting. You can usually find them at any store where yarn is found.
  • Decide on your pattern beforehand so you have the best result!
  • Take your time and enjoy the process. Put on some Christmas music and have fun making these beautiful oranges!
